COLBERT MASHILE: Who Feels It, Knows It

Everard Read / CIRCA is proud to present Who Feels It, Knows It an exhibition of new works by Colbert Mashile at CIRCA Cape Town. Opening on Thursday 20th September, it will run until 13th October 2018.
I strive to achieve a true narrative of my world view by way of intuitive approach. The depicted visual story line has no apparent chronology or straightforward narrative though there's a strong socio political commentary cloaked under hidden nuances. My work is largely informed by some gut-feel approach coupled with an apparent academic training. I try very hard to retain the African feel as can be seen in the use of anthropomorphic imagery and use of strong earthy colours but also to break barriers and allow my work to transcend racial and geographic barriers. Overtime this approach has become automatic like a new unique language that reinvents and evolves around itself.
