Dylan Lewis at Christie’s South Kensington
Shapeshifting - From Animal to HumanJuly 23, 2009—August 21, 2009
Dylan Lewis, one of only a handful of living artists ever to have held a solo sale at Christie´s, has once again been invited by the prestigious auction house to hold an exhibition at their South Kensington premises. Celebrating the works of this internationally-acclaimed sculptor, ‘Shapeshifting: From Animal to Human’ follows Lewis’s evolution from the animal through to his work with the human form. It also explores the sculptor’s broader concerns of the environment, the wilderness forces that shape it, with his works exposing man’s increasingly fragile relationship with the earth.
The Coleridge Room at Christie´s South Kensington has been transformed with animal bronzes and more recent studies of the human form. If you have not had a chance to make it to the exhibition, the works are on show until 21st August 2009.

Dylan Lewis:
´Over the past few years I have become increasingly aware of the significance of wilderness to the human psyche, and have been exploring the idea of co-existing internal and external, free and untamed wild spaces. This in turn led to my desire to deepen the animal-human interface in my work, and now to extend that and to explore the male figure for the first time in my career.´
